Every day, forecast tomorrow's maximum temperature and whether it will rain at the school. The next day we compare it with what the nearest station measured and with what the computer said.

How to play

  1. Join with your class codeYour teacher will give it to you. Choose a made-up nickname: do not use your first name and surname.
  2. Forecast before midnightWhat will tomorrow's maximum temperature be? Will it rain? Look at the sky, the dashboard or whatever you like, and decide. You can change it until 00:00 from the same device.
  3. Tomorrow, the resultsWhen the day ends we compare with the nearest station: its maximum temperature and whether it recorded rain (0.2 mm or more). The Atlas Forecast, the median of the models and “the class”, which is the median of all your forecasts, also score points.

The points

The maximum

3 points if you are within 1 °C of what the station measured, 2 if you are within 2 °C and 1 if you are within 3 °C.

The rain

2 points if you get right whether it rains or not. Any amount the rain gauge measures counts as rain: 0.2 mm or more over the day.

The wisdom of the class

The median of all the maximums and the rain forecast by the majority: it is often more accurate than almost everyone individually, just like the median of the models.

No accounts or email: just a nickname within the class. Forecasts and observations refer to the school's location, not yours. Everything is deleted at the end of the school year (31 July) or when your teacher deletes the class. More information in For teachers and in the privacy policy.
